Sharing Ceres

Words from Jane Charles...

Aptly named after “Ceres” the Goddess of harvest, fertility and motherly love, Ceres Homestead has embraced so many over the generations. Lucky enough to be the current custodians, I cannot actually pinpoint the feeling I have here, yet the feeling is palpable.

I have long thought about what constitutes the spirit at Ceres Homestead. Is it her age, her beauty, her unique architecture? Is it the warm embrace of the steadfast old buildings that envelop you? Is it the grandeur of the homestead? Is it the fact that Royalty walked its halls? Is it Queen Victoria’s gift - the cutting of the vine from Hampton Court Palace, that crowns the central Hall of the home? Is it the stately garden that enlivens you? Whatever it is, it is something that has to be experienced, and not something that can be conveyed by word or picture.

For years now, and I recall vividly many a time, I have been told, ”you need to share this place and show the world.“ Our opening of exclusive and considered offerings at Ceres Homestead have not come on a whim. In fact, quite the opposite. Our offerings have been the burning flame in me for years. Whilst it is my intention to return to my profession, this project has all been about divine timing, and that time aligns as now - I am a firm believer in that.

Still our family home, Ceres Homestead is an undertaking of both labour and love. A project to build a beautiful family home, slowly touching every square inch of its surrounds, rejuvenating and replenishing in part, maintaining in other, and placing on her our own stamp! And now, we invite you to be part of our journey, as we explore the many opportunities and moments that walk through our gates. We invite you to be part of our story through experience, opportunities and our online store - with each piece curated and developed under watchful eye.

This undertaking is today, the launch of Ceres Homestead, a time to be celebrated. Celebrated by me, by my beautiful, kind and supportive husband Geordie, our four amazing and intuitive children, Edward, William, George and Isobel. By our inspirational community, who have encouraged, loved and cared for us and allowed us to have a dream and fly. Today is also celebrated by an individual who has taught me that positivity, determination and drive take you to the most amazing places - Eliza Steele, we thank you for the opportunities and friendship.

In the spirit of the Goddess Ceres, we offer you not only experiences here, but the finest quality in the products we bring you. Products that reflect the bounty of agriculture, quality of yesteryear and all with the ounces of motherly love.

I look forward to sharing over time a part of our home, our garden and lifestyle, as we acknowledge and remember our forebears over thousands of years, the works and contributions and sacrifices they have all made, and we anticipate with great planning and fortitude our future.
